This article struck a chord with me this week. As someone who focuses on bringing investment to innovative UK tech companies, it is always encouraging to hear about rapid technological advancement - although it is worth being mindful of technology completely replacing human input. At a seminar this week, the speakers were asserting that:
(1) the global VR/AR (virtual reality / augmented reality) market is projected to grow from $10bn to $700bn over the next eight years
(2) the global AI (artificial intelligence) market is projected to grow from $1bn to $35bn over a similar period.
Who knows whether these targets will be met? However, one thing is clear: IT, virtual media and big data companies that enable these technologies are all in for a roller-coaster ride over the next few years.
